Texas Family Photography: Overcast Adventures

Today, I'm excited to share a heartwarming story of a family with an angelic little girl and a smiley baby boy, and how, despite overcast skies and unexpected weather, we managed to gather some amazing photos.

Early in the morning, I met this lovely family at Mills Pond, a lush trail in the heart of Wells Branch in Austin. The cool, crisp fall air was a bit unusual for Texas, but it added a refreshing touch to our session. As a mom of three, I understand the stress of unpredictable toddlers and changing weather, but this family was as flexible as the fall breeze, willing to chance getting caught in rain for the sake of capturing beautiful memories.

The two children, with their unique personalities, were a delight to work with. The little girl had a certain charm about her, her innocence and curiosity shining through. Her baby brother was all smiles and laughter, a bundle of joy that added a burst of happiness to our session. Their animated spirits and candid interactions made every moment magical.

Despite the overcast skies, Mills Pond proved to be the perfect setting for our session. It has quickly become one of my favorite spots for families who want lush greenery in their family portraits.

But what made this session even more special was discovering that the woman in the family had vacationed in my small upstate NY hometown during her childhood. It's a small world indeed, and what are the odds of meeting someone with such a personal connection here in Austin, Texas? This serendipitous encounter added a unique layer of warmth and familiarity to our time together.

As we navigated the challenges of changing weather and shifting times (with daylight savings approaching), this family's willingness to embrace the unexpected was truly inspiring. It's a reminder that even when the skies are overcast, we can still capture amazing photos that tell a beautiful story.

I'm currently enjoying the busy fall season of family photography, and I still have some fall family mini session and family portrait session spots available in November. It’s a wonderful time to book your family photo session or a fall family mini session, and I look forward to the privilege of serving your family, helping you capture the warmth, love, and joy of this beautiful season. Don't let the unpredictable weather deter you; sometimes, it's the unexpected moments that turn into the most cherished memories.
