Happy New Year & Thank you!
As I sit down to share a few of my own family photos and reflect on the year behind us, I mostly just feel grateful. If I’m being honest, 2025 was kind of a brutal year for me. I spent an impressive amount of time with my vascular surgeon—we’re officially on a first-name basis now—and we developed a shared love-hate relationship with my insurance company. I also had a surprise knee surgery in the fall, which made scheduling your sessions a little… interesting at times.
But I’m happy (and proud) to report that every single session that was booked was completed, and every gallery found its way into the inboxes of very happy families. That alone feels like a small miracle.
I delivered over 30,000 photos and successfully tricked countless dads into having fun during photo sessions.
We went really low-key for our family photo this year. The kids had found a hiking spot they liked with a beautiful sunset view, so we each threw on a sweater and grabbed the camera.
One of my favorite parts of this year was hearing from so many of you about your favorite images. I’m always amused (and a little surprised) by how often your favorites differ from mine—and I love that. Seeing your framed prints on the wall, your canvases proudly displayed, and your photos shared with friends and family never gets old.
I loved meeting all of you.
I loved laughing with you.
I loved meeting your families—your beautiful children, your furry friends, your extended families.
To my repeat clients: it is a true joy to photograph you year after year and watch your children grow. Truly one of the greatest privileges of this job. I loved the creativity of your requests, your flexibility, your punctuality, and your willingness to be silly when I asked you to.
As we head into a new year, I’m really excited to see what spring brings. Will we finally get a good bluebonnet year? Or will Texas keep us guessing like it did in 2025? Either way, I’ll be ready to adventure with you all—new destinations, new light, and the same meaningful moments—in 2026. Stay tuned for Spring Mini Session dates.
Until the wonderfully psychophrenic Texas weather calms down, I’ll be out photographing my newest favorite subject… something it only took me seven years to convince my husband was the best idea ever.
Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for letting me tell your stories. I can’t wait to see you all in 2026.
For everyone who asked me how we take a family photo with the photographer IN it...We use a remote, easy-peasy lemon squeezy, except when you forget to hide it while taking the shot.
