A Whimsical Art Studio
I was over the moon when my dear friend Dawn Howell invited me back to her Cedar Park Texas art studio for this branding shoot in 2026. She needed fresh headshots and authentic images for an upcoming magazine feature, so we created a portrait shoot that captures the magic she pours into every piece. Her home studio keeps evolving each time I visit—more colorful, more organized yet delightfully eclectic, with vintage toys tucked among her supplies.
As a busy mother, Dawn carves out sacred time for painting as her therapy and way to reconnect with joy. She has this incredible warmth that instantly makes you smile—she makes me laugh every time we’re together—and watching her delicately include her son in the moment without a hint of annoyance was truly precious. She asked me to guide her toward outfits that made her feel beautiful and playful, and we nailed it: pieces that let her personality shine while she moved through her creative space.
During the portrait shoot, we focused on genuine energy—close-up headshots highlighting her radiant smile, lifestyle shots of her at work with brushes and crystals, and details of the studio’s whimsical layers. The light poured in perfectly, illuminating the nostalgia and healing she infuses into her dreamy paintings.

As we finished up, Dawn wanted a photo in her favorite new studio decor, beaded curtains her husband sweetly let her install.
