Braving the Cold for Beautiful Spring Photos

mini session, Texas, Leander

Last weekend, I had the honor of photographing a family session on what turned out to be a freakishly cold spring morning—just 43 degrees! Most people would’ve postponed, but this awesome client was determined to go for it, and I’m so glad she did.

A heartwarming outdoor family photo collage featuring moments in nature with light blue clothing and casual poses.

I showed up bundled from head to toe, ready to make the most of it. Her kids came tumbling out of the car full of energy and ready for action. We kept everyone moving, wrapping the kids in cozy blankets between shots, and somehow managed to keep the mood light and fun despite the chill.

At the end of the session, we even took a few minutes to visit the baby chickens and pigs at the farm—a sweet little reward for everyone’s great attitudes. The conditions were far from ideal, but this family showed up with joyful hearts and happy smiles. Their mom’s energy truly sustained everyone, and it shines through in the photos.

Thank you again to this amazing crew for braving the cold with me—you were champs, and I hope these photos feel as warm and full of life as your spirits did that morning.
