Dancing Among the Geese: A Senior Session for Class of 2026
May was an absolute whirlwind here at Jenney Lynn Photo. Back-to-back sessions, late-night editing, client deliveries, and all the beautiful families and seniors who trusted me with their moments—it was one of those months that flew by in the best possible way. I barely had time to catch my breath, let alone share all the gorgeous images I was capturing. But today, I’m finally carving out space to share one of my very favorite sessions from the entire month.
This sweet senior is someone I’ve known for a while. She is kind, patient, and incredibly smart—the oldest and only girl in a very large family. When we first talked about her session, she was honest with me: she doesn’t really love getting her photo taken. “This is for my mom,” she said with a gentle smile. I completely understood, and I promised we’d keep things relaxed and fun.
We started exploring different spots around the park, and she had brought the most beautiful collection of dresses. As she tried them on and we moved from one location to another, I watched her begin to relax. The laughter came easier. By the time we reached blue hour, she was fully in the moment—suggesting new ideas, trying different poses, and genuinely enjoying herself. It’s always such a gift when a senior lets her guard down and lets her personality shine through.
And then the real magic happened.
We were down by the pond when a gaggle of geese with one duck mixed in decided to join us. They gently waddled right up behind her, honking softly as they followed along in her footsteps. I quickly backed up to get a wider shot, and she turned around with the biggest, most delighted smile. She started dancing right there in the middle of them, completely surrounded by her unexpected feathered friends. It was one of those unplanned moments that you can’t script. Pure joy.
We finished our evening at the bridge with some beautiful, classic senior portraits—the kind I know her mom will treasure forever. Her mom had come prepared with an entire wagon full of fun props and meaningful items, and we had the best time incorporating them into the last part of the session. The light was soft, the laughter was easy, and the whole evening felt so full of heart.
My goal with every senior session is always the same: to help you feel comfortable, to make you laugh, and to capture photos that show you just how beautiful you truly are—inside and out. This session was a perfect reminder of why I love this work so much.
To the entire Class of 2026: I hope your summer is wild and fun, filled with adventure, good friends, and memories you’ll laugh about for years. And as you step into whatever comes next, may your future be overflowing with opportunities and all the joy you deserve.
If you’re a senior (or the proud mom or dad of one) looking for a relaxed, personality-filled session with room for a little unexpected magic, I’d love to chat. Let’s create something beautiful together.
